Bikepacking from Kumamoto to Osaka 26 days

Tim and his cycling partner finished their trip safely. They are from The Netherlands, enjoyed snowboarding in Hokkaido and came to Kumamoto to start bikepacking. Here are some photos from the trip and comment for our service.

1. How was the customer service before you picked up bikes?

Very good, Ken responded quickly to our questions and everything was very clear. The booking process and payment were made very easy.

2. How were the bikes and equipment? Did they work properly? Please note if you have any problem or anything we can improve.

The bikes were great. Good quality bikes, groupset, and other equipment, and everything in very good condition, so everything worked very well. It was very nice to have some spare parts if needed (although we didn’t need any). The only thing is we could have used some more spray oil for the chain and something to clean the chain. Mainly because we had some rainy days and used the bikes for four weeks.

3. How was the return system by delivery service? Did you have any difficulties packing bikes?

The returning system was well organized and it was easy to follow the clear instructions in the photos and video for packing and protecting the bikes. It was a small problem that the boxes were a little bit small for the sizes of the bikes, but it was possible to solve this by taking off the bike rack and the handlebars.

4. Could you leave a comment on our service in general?

We really enjoyed our bikepacking trip through Japan and we are very happy with choosing bikepacking Japan to rent our bikes. The bikes were perfect. The booking, pick-up and returning off the bikes were all very well organized and easy for us to perform. Thank you for making it possible to enjoy Japan by bicycle, something we would recommend to everyone!

Bikepacking in Kagoshima by Angelina

In March 2024, photographer Angelina from Germany enjoyed her bikepacking trip in Kagoshima. Here are her fantastic photos and comments.

How was the customer service before you picked up the bike?

It was just perfect. Kenichi answered all my questions via mail and shared a great tour recommendation. I didn’t have to wait for his answers and felt very safe when planning the tour – especially because I wanted to travel alone.

How were the bikes and equipment? Did they work properly? Please note if you have any problem or anything we can improve?

During my ten day tour I had no problems with the bike and the equipment. I really loved the gravel bike, especially because the bike was set up very well. Even the bags were selected very carefully and were perfect for my amount of luggage.

Could you leave comment for our service in general?

When I go back to Japan one day (and I definitely will), I will again book a bike tour with Bikepacking Japan. It was an awesome experience. I think Kenichi and his colleagues are doing a great job promoting bikepacking in Japan and I hope there will be many people in the future who will explore Japan by bike. The service they provide is so good and professional, moreover, Kenichi is a relaxed and likeable person. The communication was easy from the beginning to the end. Furthermore, I got in touch with so many people in the South of Japan just because I was traveling by bike. Some fears because of traveling alone as a woman in a foreign country were dispelled very quickly. I experienced Japan as a very safe country and an outstanding bikepacking destination. I can really recommend Bikepacking Japan.

How to assemble bike

This is the hybrid bike touring set. It comes with pannier bags, a front bag, and other tools. The black bag in the bottle cage is a bike bag that you can cover your bike when you are on the train or bus.

The bike will be delivered in the box.

Put on the front wheel and tighten the lever.

Install the handlebar.

Make sure the wire is going under the stem.

Tighten the 4 screws on the stem evenly.

Tighten the screw on the front bag attachment. DO NOT tighten too much, it is made of plastic, you will destroy it.

Install the front brake cable.

Make sure it is installed right.

You can adjust brake with this screw.

Hold 3 seconds to turn the light on. And you can change the flashing mode by clicking it.

Hold 3 seconds to turn the rear lights on. And you can change the flashing mode by clicking it.

The bike has rubber straps that you can fix in your tent or other bags.

These tools are in the saddle bag or other places on the bike.
